Coding standard
How to maintain the QStudio coding standards.
Generally a coding standard can be regarded as a guideline for the creation of (Java) source
code. Within these guidelines a number issues are explained:
- Stylistic issues
- Good programming practices
- Pitfalls within the grammar of the programming language
A number of the guidlines can be automatically enforced by static analysis techniques.
Coding standards in the QStudio context consist of a defined configuration of the QStudio
checks, reflecting the guidelines which can be automatically enforced.
Coding standards on the QStudio server are regarded as enterpise standards. These standards
can (and must) be used for inspection runs from the QStudio clients, thus assuring that
all developers, within a product (context), use the same check configurations.
Coding standards on the QStudio server can only be changed by authorized users (see
authorization table).
This tutorial provides an introduction to the
user-interface
of the Coding standard module, a
quick tour
will guide you through the possibilities and the usage of the module in 5 steps:
Select product.
Select milestone.
Select grouping.
View standard.
Edit standard.
How to migrate existing QStudio coding standards to a new release.
Release updates of QStudio for Java contain, in general, new rules. New rules are not
automatically incorporated into the checks configurations of existing products.
Migration has to be manually initiated, per check configuration. See the
Migration dialogue for a description
on the migration issue.
