Migration of check configurations
How to migrate the QStudio coding standards upon release updates.
In general a release update of QStudio for Java contains an extension of the available checks.
These checks are automatically available in the default check configuration but not
in the checks configurations of existing products. Incorporation of new checks
requires an explicit user-action.
When opening the View-dialogue while new checks are available, this is detected and
the View-dialogue is extended with an extra selection-option through which the
differences can be examined. This option is only available for the current standard
i.e. 'next milestone'. Standards for previous milestones cannot be migrated.
Besides the selection-option the new checks can also be detected through the status-
symbols in the view.

Upon opening the Edit-dialogue, the new checks are (automatically) migrated into the
existing checks configuration. During the migration the following rules apply:
- all new checks are added to the existing check configuration
- status of the newly incorporated checks is equivalent to their status in the
default configuration
- existing checks are not affected
The migration is effectuated only after the changes are saved by selecting the
'Save settings'-button at the bottom of the dialogue.
