Viewing the QStudio observations.

The Quality view is a multi-dimensional view for in-depth analysis of the quality of the inspected source code, based on QStudio observations. The view is situated in the Views-functionality on the Home-section of the Web User Interface (WUI). The module can be accessed by all (registered) users. Authorization on the access to the different products is handled within the module.

With an inspection run of the QStudio analyzer the Java source code is inspected on a number of pre-defined rules. These rules represent (part of) the Coding Standard and are defined through the QStudio checks. On violation of a rule, an observation is generated stating what rule was violated, the reason of the violation and the location were the observation was made. Each QStudio check is assigned an Impact level and a Quality sub-attribute (see Concepts). Through these classifications the observations can be grouped to reflect the different quality aspects of the source code.

In the Quality view the quality-data is available, which is generated through Formal inspections (see CQC clients).

This tutorial provides an introduction to the user-interface of the Quality view, a quick tour will guide you through the possibilities and the usage of the views in 6 steps:

  • Select product.
  • Select milestone.
  • Select node (package).
  • Select grouping.
  • Select data-presentation.
  • Analyze observations.
